In a few weeks the United Nations General Assembly will vote for the 29th year on Cuba’s resolution demanding an end to the six-decade old US blockade.
Under the presidency of Donald Trump, Cuba suffered unprecedented levels of hostility and 243 additional measures and sanctions against it from the US government. In the last twelve months the suffering and shortages caused by the blockade have intensified with the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, the Biden administration has shown no sign of rolling back any of Trump’s measures.
Join us live from Havana on Monday 24 May when we will discuss how the cruel and inhumane US policy has impacted on every area of Cuban life during the last twelve months. María del Carmen Herrera, Director of Multilateral Affairs at Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in conversation with CSC director Rob Miller and answering questions about Cuba’s most recent report to the United Nations, how this year’s vote might pan out, and what international actions have, and can be taken to support Cuba.
This is the second in our ‘Breaking the Blockade’ series of meetings, organised to coincide with the 2021United Nations General Assembly vote which takes place on 23 June.
